Birds are survivors of the Cretaceous mass extinction event of species 65 million years ago. That event wiped out the earth's dinosaurs, and only some of the ancestors of birds survived.
When they sleep, birds, like humans, have their eyes closed. However, unlike humans, they open their eyes every few moments while they sleep.
Do you know what the reason for this is? Ornithologists believe that this particular way of sleeping enables birds to remain alert at all times while resting, lest they be preyed upon.
Of course, birds will try to minimize the number of blinks and increase the time to close their eyes when sleeping. However, the quality of sleep is actually very high in birds despite their constant blinking while they sleep.
For today's drawing tutorial, we are going to try to draw a beautiful bird. It is resting on a branch and is looking around alertly, flying away as soon as it senses danger.
We will start with the beak of this bird, then the wing, the tail, the body, the claws and the branch. You can choose your favorite colors to paint it to get a unique bird!
