The Spinosaurus is a strange looking, huge dinosaur. Its body length exceeded that of the Tyrannosaurus Rex and it received no less attention than the T. rex.

Spinosaurus survived in the Cretaceous period from about 112 million to 93 million years ago. Studies have shown that Spinosaurus was the only known meat-eating dinosaur that could swim.

With its size advantage, Spinosaurus could easily drive off Deinosuchus, but it wasn't that easy to kill the latter. Neither Spinosaurus nor Deinosuchus was a match for T. rex.

According to the study, Spinosaurus spends at least part of its time feeding in the water, and it also has the ability to feed on shore, which reduces competition with other large predators to some extent.

How to Draw a Cartoon Spinosaurus Step by Step

Step 1 Draw the head of this Spinosaurus.

In this step, we'll start by outlining the head of this baby Spinosaurus and then add an eye and eyebrow.

Start by drawing a smooth curve from left to right to form an arch for the top of this dinosaur's head. Starting from its left end, draw a "C" shape.

Draw a circle on the face for the eye. Draw a slightly smaller circle inside. Above the eye, draw a crescent moon shape as an eyebrow.

Step 2 Draw the nose and mouth of this Spinosaurus.

In this step we're going to go ahead and draw the face of this baby Spinosaurus, adding a nose and a smile to it.

Draw a small oval to the lower left of the eye, inside the "C" shape we drew, to get the nose of this Spinosaurus.

Below that eye, draw a short line from left to right to get a valley for the mouth. Add a short line to the corner of the mouth.

Step 3 Draw the body of this Spinosaurus.

We have drawn the head of this baby Spinosaurus, and the next step is of course to draw its body.

Its body looks like a bird's body, so if you've ever drawn sparrows, crows, etc., you'll probably be able to finish it easily.

Start by drawing two straight lines from the head towards the bottom right to get the neck of this baby Spinosaurus. Then draw the outline of its body and leave a gap at the bottom of the body.

Step 4 Draw one of the legs of this Spinosaurus.

Let's look to that gap at the bottom of the body where we're going to draw one of the back legs of this baby Spinosaurus.

Let's go ahead and draw the other back leg of this baby Spinosaurus. This leg is located to the left of the one we already drew.

Again, we get this leg by drawing a line down from the chest and a shorter line down from the belly.

Draw an oval foot at the bottom of this leg and add two curves to get the toes. The back legs are complete.

Step 6 Draw the front legs and abdomen of this Spinosaurus.

We will try to draw the two front legs of this baby Spinosaurus near the chest. They're short and small like T. rex's and kind of cute.

Start by drawing one leg on the left side of the chest. Then draw the other front leg on top of the back leg on the left.

And finally we have to add two lines to the body of this baby Spinosaurus to get its abdomen.

Step 7 Draw the top of the head and back of this Spinosaurus.

Draw an upside-down "U" shape on top of the head of this Spinosaurus. Then add two more to the right of it to get the spines on top of the head.

On the back of this baby Spinosaurus, we will draw a dorsal sail, which is its most obvious feature. Draw a smooth curve from the neck to the tail to get the outline of the dorsal sail.

Then draw three striped shapes on this dorsal sail, each consisting of two straight lines and forming an acute angle.

Step 8 Add details to the back and tail of this Spinosaurus.

We are close to finishing drawing this cute baby Spinosaurus, but something seems to be missing. Let's add some patterns to its body.

Draw a "U" shape on the neck of this baby Spinosaurus. Then add three more on the back and the tail.
