Polar bears live in the ice-covered waters of the Arctic Circle. The polar bear's sense of smell is the best among animals, and its nose is seven times more sensitive than that of a dog.

During the harsh winters, polar bears are less active outside, hardly search for food and go into hibernation. During the summer when ice floes are at a minimum, polar bears have a hard time finding food may also sleep for long periods of time.

But please note that polar bears do not really go into hibernation, they just sleep for a while in bad weather, and they are always alert during sleep and wake up as soon as they hear movement.
