Nowadays, people see the night before Halloween as a great opportunity to have fun, tell ghost stories and scare each other. On the night before Halloween, children dress up in costumes and masks and go door to door collecting candy.

For Halloween, people always have jack-o'-lanterns in their homes or yards. However, the Irish did not make the first lanterns with pumpkins, but put a small candle in a hollowed out turnip to make turnip lanterns.

It is said that soon after the Irish arrived in the United States, they found that pumpkins were superior to turnips in terms of both accessibility and ease of carving, and so pumpkins became a new Halloween favorite.
