Quails are small, cute birds that live in many places around the world. They are about the size of your hand and have round bodies, short tails, and tiny legs.

Quails are usually brown, gray, or white with pretty patterns on their feathers, which help them hide in the grass and stay safe from predators.

Quails love to live in fields, forests, and even farms. They spend most of their time on the ground, walking or running around to find food. They eat seeds, insects, and sometimes small plants. Even though they have wings, quails don’t fly very much—they prefer to stay close to the ground.

One fun fact about quails is that they lay eggs! Their eggs are smaller than chicken eggs and have cool spots or speckles on them. Baby quails, called chicks, are super tiny and fluffy when they hatch. They can walk and follow their parents right away!

Quails are also known for their special sounds. They make soft calls like "whit-whit" or "chi-ca-go" to talk to each other. It’s their way of saying, "Hello!" or "Be careful!"
