Thanksgiving is often a time of fellowship where family and friends come together to share and give thanks for life's gifts and each other's support. In North America, a roasted turkey is always an essential part of the Thanksgiving table.

In addition to roasted turkey, other classic foods such as cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, apples, corn, mashed potatoes and peas are also served on this day.

Thanksgiving in the United States was originally celebrated by private citizens on their own. However, after 17 consecutive years of appeals by a magazine editor named Hale, in 1863 then U.S. President Abraham Lincoln officially issued a document making the fourth Thursday of November an official holiday.

Thanksgiving exists so that we can remember to be thankful, learn to think differently, cherish our friends, understand our parents, make life a little warmer, and make the world a better place!
