The Earth's oceans cover about 71% of the Earth's surface area. Humans have traveled on the oceans, fished from the oceans, lived off the oceans and explored the oceans since prehistoric times.
Fish that live in the sea, such as tuna, flounder, sharks and striped bass, cannot live in fresh water or they will die.
Why is this? Because seawater is dense and has a high pressure. Sea fish will die when they enter fresh water because their blood pressure is adapted to the sea water pressure.
If marine fish enter fresh water, their blood pressure exceeds the water pressure due to the low pressure of fresh water, which can cause their blood vessels to burst and thus kill them.
In today's drawing tutorial, let's learn how to draw a sea fish. It is moving around next to the seaweed, looking mischievously at the surface of the sea as if it has something interesting in mind.
We will start by drawing the body of this cute sea fish, then add an exaggerated expression, and then seaweed and rocks etc. as the background. If you like this cartoon sea fish, learn to draw it step by step!

How to Draw a Sea Fish Step by Step
Step 1 Outline the body of this sea fish.
Let's start by trying to draw the body of this sea fish, what does it look like? Yes, like a boat, or maybe a moon.
Let's start by drawing its upper edge. Draw a smooth curve from left to right to form a valley, which is relatively shallow.
Then below that curve, draw another curve to connect its two ends. This curve forms a deeper valley. This gives us the body of this sea fish.
Step 2 Draw the fins of this sea fish.
Next, let's add a dorsal fin and a ventral fin to this marine fish. They look like a pair of strange wings, or if you look at them as a whole they look like a triangle.
Take a point above the body, off to the side of the head. From this point, draw two separate lines towards the lower right to get a fin.
Take a point below the body as well, almost directly below the previous point. From this point, draw two separate smooth lines toward the upper right to get a ventral fin.
Step 3 Draw the eyes of this sea fish.
Okay, next you can draw the face of this sea fish, we'll try to draw its big eyes first in this step, they are oval shaped.
Let's start by drawing the eye on the right, starting by drawing an oval shape that tilts to the right. Then draw the other two ovals inside it, you need to pay attention to their position.
The same goes for that eye on the left, start by drawing an oval, but of course here you only need to draw a curve. Then draw two ovals inside it to complete the eye.
Step 4 Draw the mouth of this sea fish.
Below the eyes you want to draw the mouth of this sea fish - it has a big mouth and a smile that looks like it's going to be mischievous.
Draw a curve on the face from left to right. Then draw another one below it and connect its right end. Add a short line to the right end of the drawn mouth to get a mouth corner.
Next, we draw three short straight lines in this mouth to get the teeth. Finally, we draw a line from left to right underneath the mouth.
Step 5 Draw one of the fins of this sea fish.
We've drawn a dorsal fin and a ventral fin on this sea fish, next we're going to draw a fin to the right of its mouth as well.
Take a point to the right of that mouth. Draw a smooth curve from that point toward the upper right, and another curve from that point toward the lower right. Connect the right ends of these two lines to get the outline of the fin.
Inside this already drawn fin, we draw some lines that radiate from left to right. Finally, near the left end of the fin, we draw a line from the back to the belly of the fish.
Step 6 Draw the tail of this sea fish.
This lovely sea fish is close to being finished, it's still missing a tail that will allow it to swim as fast as it can. As you can see, the tail looks like one of the pincers of a crab.
On the right side of this fish's body, we start by drawing an oval. You only need to draw the left part of it and ignore the rest.
Next we draw an indentation to the left on the right side of that oval and connect it with the ends of this oval to get the tail of this sea fish.
Step 7 Add details to the fins and tail.
Let's look at the dorsal fin of this marine fish. Add some short lines that are slightly angled to the left. These lines get shorter in order from left to right and have the same spacing between each two neighboring lines.
On the ventral fin of this sea fish, we'll add the same lines, but they're slightly angled to the right.
And finally, the tail of this sea fish. Starting from the right end of the body, add some smooth curves towards the top and bottom right respectively.
Step 8 Add a background to this sea fish.
We've drawn this cartoon sea fish, next we're going to add a background to it, here we've chosen to draw some rocks and seaweed.
Below this fish, draw some ovals as rocks in order from left to right. They are different sizes and you can draw them as you like.
Next to these rocks, we draw some wavy lines from top to bottom thus getting some seaweed. The background of this drawing is also finished!
Step 9 Color this drawing about sea fish.
Finally it's time to color this sea fish, you can choose any of those colors you like to complete it.
Of course you can also refer to the picture above to finish this fish easily, it's all up to you. Don't forget to color the rocks, the seaweed and the sea.
Well, our cute sea fish is finished, congratulations for harvesting your own art work. You can take it and share it with your mom and dad!
