Sea lions are found all over the world, mostly living in the cold oceans. Many people tend to confuse it with seals and walruses. Some species of sea lions have long hair on their necks, similar to a lion's mane, hence the name sea lion.
Sea lions are hardy hunters, swimming in the water at speeds of 4 to 18 miles per hour and hunting for up to 30 hours, making them very patient marine animals.
The sea lion is a big eater, so most of the time it stays in the ocean hunting for the energy it needs. They mainly eat fish, cephalopods and crustaceans and a few other invertebrates, and will even catch penguins when they are hungry.
The base of the sea lion's mustache is covered with many nerves that collect echoes for use in determining the size and shape of targets, thus accurately identifying objects. A sea lion's mustache is better than its ears, and it can recognize sounds from dozens of nautical miles away!
Let's learn how to draw a sea lion. Compared to seals, sea lions have larger forelimbs and can move nimbly on land to walk, run and even jump.
If you like this clever animal that likes to interact with humans, follow the instructions below to try to draw it out. It's going to be a fun experience, so come along and give it a try!
