Television refers to a device that uses electronics to transmit moving picture images and audio signals. As early as the 19th century, people began exploring ways to convert images into electronic signals.
In 1884, Nipkov, a Russian-German, discovered that if an image was divided into many individual dots, it could be transmitted over long distances. This provided the basic principle for the eventual invention of television.
British inventor J.L. Baird began to keep trying based on this principle. He made his breakthrough on October 2, 1925, after 19 years of effort. Thus, this day became the birth day of television.
On September 11, 1928, the world's first TV series, "The Queen's Messenger" was piloted in the United States. Because the cameras at that time could not be moved, the actors could only perform standing in front of the camera.
